Working in Paradise?

Who brings their MacBook on vacation? Authors, that's who!

To be fair, I write about Captiva Island. Why wouldn't I take my work with me, when work is visiting and writing about a tropical paradise?

Once a year, my husband and I travel to Captiva Island, Florida to relax and practically live on the beach in the middle of winter. I love Massachusetts, and as I've mentioned before, I'll always be a New England girl. However, somewhere around the middle of February, I've had enough. The pretty snow that was once a welcome sight right before the holidays gets on my nerves by the time we're checking with Mr. Groundhog, on how many more weeks we've got to endure the bitter cold.

Due to Covid, the last time we visited the island, was March 2020. This year, we have a greater appreciation for this oasis. It wouldn't surprise me if my husband starts looking at island real estate before we head back home. There's something about living in a place where people from all over the world visit on vacation. Walking barefoot, holding a drink with an umbrella in it, is the way to go.

This brings me back to explain why I brought my MacBook with me this time. My next book, A Captiva Wedding, should be out at the end of May or early June at the latest. Working on Book 2 in the Captiva Island series is easy when everywhere you look, inspiration tugs at your heart. I hope you are looking forward to the release of that book as much as I am.

Here are just a few photos I took yesterday and today. I hope you will visit Captiva Island one day, but if you can't, these photos will have to do the trick until then.

May you get to wiggle your toes in the sand.
